2021 was a special year due to Covid-19. I realize I never updated this post, so time to update it! Unfortunately, my main logging tool didn’t want to work along for something so long ago, so some things might not be 100% accurate.
2020 was terrible and 2021 wasn’t much better in the beginning. But, Plopsaland De Panne opened one of the best rollercoasters in Europe, so that was certainly a highlight of the year!
Visited parks in 2021
No new parks this year, but I made up for it by riding an absurd amount of coasters at the parks I did visit.

Overnight stays
This year I stayed at the brand new Plopsa Hotel at Plopsaland De Panne, which had just opened. It was a very nice stay and a great way to experience the park without rushing.
New attractions
Two notable new attractions opened this year that I got to ride:
Plopsaland De Panne 1 rides
- The Ride to Happiness NEW
Efteling 2 rides
- Max & Moritz NEW
The Ride to Happiness is an absolute beast. A Mack Xtreme Spinning Coaster that I ended up riding 31 times this year. I don’t think I need to say much more than that.
Max & Moritz replaced the classic Bob at Efteling — a bittersweet moment since the Bob was a rare credit from 2019, but the two new family coasters are a solid addition to the park.
ERT on coasters/rides
I had the pleasure to have had ERT on:
- The Ride to Happiness (Plopsaland De Panne)
Getting ERT on a brand new coaster in its opening year is something special.
Most ridden attractions in 2021
31 rides on a single coaster. I think that speaks for itself.
Last chance to ride…
No attractions that I’m aware of were removed this year.
My favourite rides in 2021
Not a lot of competition this year — The Ride to Happiness dominated everything.

Halloween
I did visit a park during the Halloween season, but honestly, I can’t remember the details well enough to report on it. Sometimes that’s just how it goes when you write the retrospective a few years late.
Other important moments
The biggest moment of 2021 was absolutely The Ride to Happiness. After a year of barely visiting any parks, getting to experience a world-class new coaster at Plopsaland — and staying at the brand new Plopsa Hotel to do it — was exactly the kind of theme park experience I needed.
